Pour le Trio

for flute, bass and piano

I wrote this six-movement trio for the first “Crazy Jane “ concert in 2011. “Crazy Jane” is a group of women composers dedicated to promoting the music of the women of Cascadia Composers. I was inspired by keyboard suites of J.S. Bach for the form and by the music of jazz composers Dave Brubeck and Chick Corea for the melodic and harmonic ideas.

The flute switches to piccolo for two of the movements, and the bass has the choice of using electric bass on movements 3 and 6. Cover painting by Amanda Rice.
